Forget David De Gea - watch Ander Herrera prove he could be Manchester United's next goalkeeper
Louis van Gaal needn't worry if De Gea leaves. Judging by this clip, one of his midfielders is good enough to replace the Spaniard in goal.
Victor Valdes is clearly about to leave (damn those "philosophical differences") and the rumours that David de Gea might move to Real Madrid won't go away.
If both of them depart at the same time, Louis van Gaal could be left desperately searching for someone to go between the sticks.
He needn't worry. As the above clip from pre-season training in Seattle shows, Ander Herrera is definitely up to the task. Just look at some of his dives and saves - he's actually a pretty decent keeper.
Sure, Herrera is primarily a midfielder. But LvG is never shy of experimenting with positional switches (Ashley Young at left-back, anyone?) - so who's to say he won't give the Spaniard a go between the sticks?
Mind you, if United do need need a new No1, LvG's skipper might also volunteer. Remember this Nike ad?
