3 Questions... | about drinking alcohol in moderation | Anthony talked to senior health writer Rebecca Corey about a new study that investigated whether moderate drinking has any health benefits. | |
| | You reported on this new study about moderate drinking. What did it involve? |
|
| So, I talked to the study author, and he told me that his team looked at 107 studies that suggested the occasional alcoholic drink can be good for you. |
| |
| | He told me those studies were flawed, and that your favorite cocktail likely has no health benefits — unfortunately! |
| |
| | Do the study results mean that any amount of alcohol is harmful? |
|
| I wouldn't say so. This study didn't get into whether drinking is harmful — only whether it has health benefits (answer: it doesn't). Still, the WHO says no amount of alcohol is safe and experts say the less you drink, the better. |
| |
| Go deeper: Here's the reason why those studies were flawed. | | |
