The final horn has sounded. The clock is at 0:00. The checkered flag has waved, the final putt has dropped. “Don’t Stop Believin'” has started playing. Read & React has reached the end of the line, friends. This is our collector’s-item last issue! Sell it on eBay and get rich! This newsletter launched more than four years ago with a simple mission: To be a fun, engaging daily stop where sports fans could catch up on the most important news of the day, delve deeper into major topics, and join in an ongoing conversation. It’s been quite a ride, this newsletter. We’ve written from within the quarantine ring while on assignment in China during the 2022 Olympics, inside the stadium at the Super Bowl and behind the tall hedges at Augusta National. Heck, we wrote a sports newsletter for three months in 2020 when there were no freaking sports at all. Now that was a challenge we’d rather not relive. What’s really made this newsletter sing, though, is you, our dear readers. This thing wasn’t called just “Read,” after all, and for the past four-plus years, you’ve reacted to everything we’ve written — sometimes agreeing with us, sometimes disagreeing with us, but always bringing the passion and connection of a truly great audience. We always thought of ourselves as conversation starters — hanging with, not lecturing at, each of you. We wanted Read & React to be the newsletter equivalent of a great sports bar, where you could chill out, get our take on the topic of the day, and air your own opinion. The fact that we’ve had waves of regular readers in our inbox every week has warmed our hearts, and yes, we read every single one of your emails. We’ll still be writing daily stories, columns and features at the main Yahoo Sports site. (Busbee is here, Hart is here.) And you can always email us directly below and tell us how right — or wrong — we are. We’d love to hear from you, and if you ever spot us at a stadium, golf course or track, the first round is on us. The happiest of holidays to you and yours, friends, and thanks for all your years of support. Keep on reading, and don’t ever stop reacting. Peace! — Jay Busbee (E-mail / Twitter) — Jay Hart (Email)
