The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (P-CNGI) has announced plans to collaborate with private firms to establish a manufacturing park for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) kits in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. This initiative aims to boost local content and enhance Nigeria's gas sector.
P-CNGI Programme Director, Michael Oluwagbemi, revealed this at the inauguration of five mini Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants in Ajaokuta.
The plants, spearheaded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and its private partners, will produce a combined 97 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, advancing the Federal Government's Gas Revolution Agenda (GRA).

Oluwagbemi highlighted Kogi State's strategic position, bordering 10 states, as an advantage for efficient gas distribution.
He also noted that P-CNGI has established over 190 CNG conversion centres and 56 retail outlets, with plans to increase these figures to 500 and 150, respectively, by year-end.
The newly launched LNG plants—NNPC Prime LNG, NGML/Gasnexus LNG, BUA LNG, Highland LNG, and LNG Arete—will produce Condensate, LNG, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), and CNG, leveraging Kogi's natural gas resources and the Ajaokuta-Obajana pipeline.
