The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in partnership with Naija Brand Chick, is set to host the second edition of the Lagos Tourism NBC Trade Fair from April 11 to 13 at the Balmoral Event Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island.
Ahead of the event, a vendor engagement session was held to prepare and energize participating small and medium-sized businesses. The initiative highlights the state's commitment to using tourism and creativity as powerful tools for inclusive economic growth and SME development.
Speaking at the session, Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, reaffirmed the Sanwo-Olu administration's vision to create enabling platforms that merge commerce, innovation, and entrepreneurship. According to him, the trade fair is not just about entertainment—it's a strategic move to boost local trade, create jobs, and enable SMEs to scale.
Mr. Aregbe shared the impact of past editions, including a vendor who sold over 500 plates of Jollof rice in three days—an achievement that some entrepreneurs said surpassed what they had sold in six months. He thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his consistent support of the state's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olanrewaju Bajulaiye, emphasized professionalism and product quality, encouraging vendors to approach the fair with a global mindset. "This is a global showcase of the Lagos entrepreneurial spirit," he said, urging vendors to focus on packaging, customer service, and consistent branding.

Convener of the fair and founder of Naija Brand Chick, Mrs. Nelly Agbogu, said the initiative—launched in 2018—was created to bridge the visibility gap for entrepreneurs. Since then, it has expanded to 22 Nigerian states and international cities like London, Houston, and Accra. She emphasized that Lagos remains central to the movement.
Agbogu revealed that this year's goal is for participating businesses to collectively generate over ₦500 million in sales and leads, while helping at least 70% of vendors increase visibility and customer retention through exposure and networking.
She also noted that vendors are strategizing with creative sales tactics, including flash deals, curated bundles, giveaways, and skits to attract buyers and build excitement.
With hundreds of vendors, live music, brand showcases, and family-friendly experiences, the Lagos Tourism NBC Trade Fair is expected to be a major highlight of the city's 2025 business and culture calendar.
Lagosians and visitors are encouraged to attend and discover the best of Nigeria's entrepreneurial and creative talent under one roof.
