The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has announced its first investment in the country's audiovisual industry, backing Filmmakers Mart (FMM) — Africa's first integrated digital production platform.
The investment, made in partnership with Sony Innovation Fund: Africa, aims to address key infrastructure gaps limiting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the film and entertainment space.
FMM offers a tech-driven marketplace connecting creatives with essential production services, tools, and training. This digital ecosystem is designed to unlock opportunities for local storytellers, boost productivity, and drive scalable business growth.
"For SMEs in creative industries, market access and production resources remain major challenges," said Eric Kafui Okyerefo, CEO of FMM. "This investment allows us to expand our platform and empower more creators across Africa."

The partnership aligns with IFC's broader goal of supporting job creation, digital inclusion, and entrepreneurship, particularly for youth, women, and underrepresented communities.
Dahlia Khalifa, IFC's Regional Director, noted, "Africa's talent needs the right tools and investment to thrive. FMM is delivering both."
For SMEs in Nigeria's vibrant creative economy, this investment represents a transformative opportunity not just for visibility, but for building sustainable, tech-enabled businesses that can compete globally.
