The initiative, flagged off at the historic Yanbawa Shelter Belt in Makoda Local Government Area, will see seedlings allocated to all 44 LGAs for distribution to schools, communities, and institutions. Read also, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the project will not only strengthen climate resilience but also create economic prospects for SMEs in nursery management, agro‑forestry, and eco‑services. He highlighted the rehabilitation of two major nurseries at Mai Nikka in Gwarzo and Kafinciri in Garko as part of efforts to boost local supply chains in tree production. To ensure long‑term impact, local government chairmen have been directed to establish Tree Planting Committees within their Agriculture Departments, a step expected to promote community‑driven afforestation programmes and stimulate small‑scale eco‑enterprise development. | | | |
