The Director-General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso, has declared that Nigeria is entering a new industrial era powered by innovation, indigenous technology, and resourcefulness.
Speaking at the Investors Forum on Commercialisation of Indigenous Technologies in Abuja, he said RMRDC is committed to moving Nigeria from a raw materials exporter to a producer of value‑added goods.
At the event, the DG revealed that several transformative technologies are now ready for commercial scale‑up, such as castor oil processing, plaster of Paris production, Artemisia annua extraction, soap noodles production, and caustic soda manufacturing. He urged private sector collaboration through technical partnerships, joint ventures, and investment, stressing that the pending 30% Value Addition Bill would boost local value addition in raw materials processing once enacted.
