The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), in partnership with the Edo State Government, has successfully trained 50 women technicians on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversion, marking a milestone in Nigeria's clean energy and gender empowerment efforts.
The graduation ceremony, held on July 4, 2025, brought together federal and state officials, industry stakeholders, and development partners to celebrate the completion of the technical upskilling programme.
NADDC Director-General, Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, reaffirmed the council's commitment to equipping women with relevant skills for the evolving automotive sector, while also appreciating the support of Senator John Owan Enoh, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, praised the initiative as a key step towards energy transition, industrial development, and youth empowerment. Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, reiterated the state's support for women-focused empowerment programmes.
The event concluded with the presentation of empowerment kits and certificates to the 50 trained women, setting them on a path to economic independence and technical excellence.
The programme reflects a growing commitment to gender inclusion, sustainability, and job creation through multi-stakeholder collaboration in Nigeria's emerging clean energy sector.
