3 Questions... | about Twisters | The movie Twisters is in theaters. I asked entertainment reporter Taryn Ryder to explain its relationship to the 1996 original and how Glen Powell fares as the franchise's new leading man. | |
| | Is there any connection between this movie and the 1996 film? |
|
| Everyone involved has been careful to call it a "new chapter" instead of a sequel. You don't need to see Twister to enjoy this one, but I recommend it. The original still holds up! |
| |
| | You previously wrote that Glen Powell is having a movie star moment. How is he in this? |
|
| It's a Glen Powell summer and I'm here for it. He's great in this film, and it'll definitely further cement his leading man status. Powell also worked on a movie with Twister's original star Bill Paxton before he died in 2017, and told me he wanted to honor Paxton with this performance. |
| |
| | Yes, I think so! It's the first big blockbuster of the summer and it's fun. Just enjoy it and don't take it too seriously. |
