The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Hajia Amina Mohammed, alongside Mr. Mohamed Malick Fall, Assistant Secretary-General and Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria; Ms. Wafaa Saaed Abdelatef, UNICEF Representative in Nigeria; and other senior officials, paid a courtesy visit to Abuja for high-level discussions.
The delegation engaged in a robust dialogue on strengthening Nigeria–UN collaboration to advance education reform. During the visit, the team was introduced to the interactive EMIS dashboard, which provides real-time school-level data from 11 states, covering teachers, students, and infrastructure.
Hajia Mohammed's visit reaffirmed the UN's strong commitment to supporting quality education in Nigeria, with a focus on inclusion, innovation, and sustainability. The collaboration is expected to create ripple effects for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the education ecosystem — from edtech solutions to service providers — ensuring that reform efforts contribute to both human capital development and economic growth.
Together, Nigeria and the UN are working to ensure that no child is left behind while creating new opportunities for SMEs to drive innovation and deliver value within the education sector.
