The Zamfara State Government has disbursed conditional cash transfers to 8,225 adolescent girls across all 14 local government areas to support their education and keep them in school.
Governor Dauda Lawal launched the initiative on Wednesday in Gusau under the World Bank-supported AGILE (Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment) and ACReSAL (Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes) projects.
According to a statement by the governor's spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the beneficiaries were selected from the poorest and most vulnerable households. Each girl will receive ₦60,000 per academic session—₦40,000 initially, followed by two tranches of ₦10,000 each.
