The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched new technologies to curb counterfeit medical products in Nigeria.
The initiative was unveiled during a two-day sensitization workshop for stakeholders in the Northwest zone, held at the Digital Bridge Institute, Kano.
NAFDAC's Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, represented by Mr. Bitrus Fraden, Director of Post Market Surveillance, emphasized that the agency is deploying modern tools to tackle counterfeiters who continuously evolve their methods.

Key highlights of the workshop included the introduction of the GreenBook, an online platform that verifies the authenticity of registered medical products, the Traceability Regulation 2024, and the Pediatric Regulation 2024, which addresses children's medical needs.
Dr. Rajina Garba, Deputy Director of Post Market Surveillance, highlighted the Scan2Verify device, a tool that enables stakeholders to detect fake drugs instantly.
She urged participants to use these technologies to eliminate counterfeit products from the market.
NAFDAC called on healthcare stakeholders to support these initiatives, ensuring Nigerians have access to only safe and effective medical products.
