The Nigeria Customs Service at the Port Harcourt II Command in Onne has reported ₦2.3 billion in agricultural and solid mineral exports and seized 20 containers of contraband goods in the first quarter of 2025.
Speaking to journalists in Onne, Rivers State, Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Babandede, said the command exported 1.27 million metric tons of goods valued at ₦2,345,268,122, mostly comprising agricultural products and solid minerals.
On anti-smuggling efforts, the command intercepted multiple containers loaded with illicit drugs, used clothing, fake sanitary ware, and unregistered food products, with a combined duty paid value (DPV) of ₦10.29 billion.
"The importation of illicit drugs and prohibited items threatens public safety and remains a criminal offence under Nigeria's customs laws," Babandede said. "These seizures highlight our officers' commitment to integrity, professionalism, and national interest."

On revenue performance, the command generated ₦190.57 billion between January and March 2025, marking a 17.12% increase over the ₦162.71 billion recorded in Q1 2024.
Babandede attributed the revenue boost to increased cargo throughput, better compliance, and improved enforcement strategies.
