Kwara State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Afees Alabi, says the ongoing Kaiama Shea Butter Factory project will generate 10,000 direct and indirect jobs upon completion.
During a site visit in Kaiama, Alabi noted that the factory would create employment opportunities for local collectors, processors, transporters, and small-scale traders, with women and youths as major beneficiaries.
Strategically located in a major shea-producing area, the factory aims to harness Kwara's rich shea resources, renowned for high oil content and purity, to meet growing local and global demand in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and food industries.

"This factory represents more than an industrial project; it's a symbol of how local potential can drive global relevance," he stated.
Alabi added that the project reflects Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's inclusive governance approach and commitment to rural development, economic growth, and sustainable agro-industrial transformation.
"This is what it means to govern with vision investing in the land, empowering the people, and securing the future," he concluded.
