The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has announced the launch of the AFRIMA Kreative Academy (TAKA) — a new initiative aimed at equipping 1.2 million young Africans with practical skills in the creative industry over the next five years.
Unveiled under the theme "Learn and Prosper," the programme targets youth between ages 18 and 35, especially in underserved communities across Africa. The goal is to boost employment, entrepreneurship, and income generation through structured learning.
According to AFRIMA founder Mike Dada, the programme was designed to address a significant gap in skills training within Africa's booming music and creative ecosystem. He noted that the academy will offer training in music production, business, event management, digital tools, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
TAKA will run three four-month training cycles annually, with top African and diaspora professionals serving as trainers and mentors. Beyond just skill-building, the initiative aims to drive wider socio-economic growth by creating jobs, promoting African culture, and improving the capacity of creatives across the continent.
Dada urged governments, investors, and private sector partners to support the programme, stressing that if Africa wants to compete globally in the music and creative economy, investing in education and industry preparation is key.

AFRIMA also plans to set up a global endowment fund and expand its impact through strategic international partnerships.
As part of broader plans to grow the industry, AFRIMA's Regional Director for Central Africa, Nde Ndifonka, revealed that a global music tour will launch in 2026. The tour will bring live concerts and cultural events to major cities across Africa and beyond, giving artists new income and exposure opportunities.
This year's AFRIMA Awards will culminate in a full Awards Week from November 25–30, 2025. Events include a Diamond Showcase, Music Business Summit, Nominees Party, Music Village Festival, and the Main Awards Ceremony — which will be broadcast to over 84 global TV stations and digital platforms.
This initiative provides young creatives and small enterprises a vital opportunity to access training, connect with industry leaders, and scale their careers or businesses in Africa's fast-growing creative sector.
