Speaking in Makurdi, BIPC CEO Dr. Asemakaha Amaabai said the initiatives stem from a risk analysis aimed at reducing Benue's overdependence on the civil service. He highlighted Governor Hyacinth Alia's focus on entrepreneurship and skills development as key to tackling unemployment. The bread and water factories, he added, have helped stabilise prices and support small-scale traders — especially young women, widows, and schoolchildren. Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are being trained in bread and water production, with plans to support them in starting small businesses. Dr. Asemakaha urged Tiv, Idoma, and Igede youths to embrace vocational skills, stressing that white-collar jobs alone cannot meet the state's employment needs.

Speaking at the 4th African Natural Resources and Energy Investment Summit in Abuja, Alake stressed that unprocessed mineral exports deprive the continent of economic benefits and technological advancement. Highlighting Nigeria's reforms, he announced that 867 mining licences were issued in the first quarter of 2025, generating N6.95 billion in revenue. The Mining Cadastre Office received over 10,000 applications, processed 955, and approved licences for exploration, small-scale mining, quarrying, and large-scale operations. Alake urged African countries to embrace resource sovereignty, noting that Africa's mineral wealth should fuel development on the continent, not abroad. In the energy sector, the Federal Government secured $5.91 million in grants under the Africa Mini-Grid Programme, while new meter test stations and solar PV training initiatives are underway to boost electrification and clean energy access. Nigeria remains committed to universal energy access, net-zero emissions by 2060, and regional power integration across West Africa.

Reacting to recent data showing a slight drop in Nigeria's inflation rate to 22.22% in June, Sun-Basorun argued that modern retail—when supported with the right infrastructure and incentives—can deliver major economic gains. He explained that formal retail systems, which rely on digital payments, promote pricing accuracy and eliminate the rounding up common in informal markets. This efficiency, he noted, could translate into substantial savings for consumers and help ease inflation across millions of daily transactions.
