The Federal Government has inaugurated the Nigeria Fashion Federation, a national coordinating platform designed to unify the country's fashion ecosystem and align it with the Confederation of African Fashion's (CAFA) continental framework.
Announcing the initiative in Abuja, the Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, said the move marks Nigeria's formal adoption of the Afroliganza vision — a pan-African drive to promote unity, creativity, and economic growth through fashion and cultural enterprise.
Musawa explained that the Federation will work with state governments, industry stakeholders, youth collectives, and traditional institutions to promote Nigerian fashion globally while ensuring alignment with CAFA's policies and objectives.

The convener of CAFA, Dr. Lai Labode, added that the Nigeria Fashion Federation will serve as the country's official fashion body under CAFA, coordinating fashion-related activities nationwide. Industry analysts believe the initiative could unlock significant export opportunities for Nigerian designers, boost MSME participation, and position the country as a key player in Africa's $15.5 billion fashion market.
