Kaduna State has taken a major step toward agricultural transformation as Governor Uba Sani received the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Yu Dunhai, and the leadership of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) to deepen collaboration in agriculture and investment.
The meeting marked a defining stride in Kaduna's mission to attract transformative partnerships that strengthen its position as a continental hub for agricultural and industrial excellence.
Governor Sani expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting Kaduna as the pilot state for the Nigeria-China Poultry Project, describing the choice as a reaffirmation of Kaduna's role as Nigeria's agricultural heartland. With agriculture contributing 43 percent to the state's GDP and employing more than 60 percent of citizens, the project promises to accelerate productivity, sustainable growth, and food security while expanding opportunities for MSMEs across the agricultural value chain.

The Chinese Ambassador praised Kaduna's progress and investor-friendly environment, while NCSP Director-General, Mr. Joseph Tegbe, commended the state's swift allocation of over 7,000 hectares of land for the project's takeoff.
Under President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund, construction is set to begin in December. The project will cover 10,000 hectares for maize and soybean cultivation to support poultry feedstock production. It is projected to generate $450 million in revenue, create 50,000 direct jobs and 300,000 indirect jobs, and produce over one million eggs daily — positioning Kaduna as home to one of Africa's largest poultry operations.
The initiative is also expected to unlock downstream opportunities for smallholder farmers, feed producers, transporters, and agro-processing MSMEs, driving inclusive growth and rural industrialisation across Northern Nigeria.
