Small businesses and entrepreneurs stand to benefit as President Bola Tinubu approves N120 billion to revive technical education and boost skills development across Nigeria. The initiative, announced by Minister of Education Tunji Alausa at a press briefing in Abuja, aims to equip students and artisans with practical skills essential for job creation and industry growth.
The federal government is shifting focus toward technical and vocational education, ensuring students receive hands-on training in key sectors. The new system will combine classroom learning with workshop sessions and real-world industrial exposure, providing a dual training model that enhances employability.
Additionally, a free six-month digital skills training program will be launched under the Digital Training Academy (DTA) to address over 2 million job vacancies in fields like software development, cybersecurity, AI, and cloud computing. The government will cover the costs of internet access and professional certifications such as Cisco, Google, and other career certifications.
