Kwara State is intensifying its commitment to fostering a thriving environment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through its State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) program.
A recent technical workshop and town hall meeting, held in collaboration with the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), brought together public and private sector stakeholders to deepen understanding and strengthen partnerships for ongoing business reforms.
Dr. Hauwa Nuru, Kwara's Commissioner for Finance and Chair of the Ease of Doing Business Council, highlighted the state's significant progress in implementing reforms that enhance transparency and service delivery for businesses and investors.

The SABER program, she explained, offers clear opportunities to streamline land administration, simplify business registration, improve investment promotion frameworks, and leverage technology in procurement and tax administration.
These efforts directly benefit SMEs by reducing bureaucratic hurdles and making it easier to start, operate, and expand.
PEBEC, represented by Mr. Shima Kennedy, reaffirmed its mandate to remove bureaucratic constraints and improve Nigeria's overall ease of doing business. For Kwara's SMEs, this translates to a more predictable and supportive landscape.
The state's focus on creating an enabling environment, as noted by KWIRS Chairman Mrs. Folashade Omoniyi, is crucial for stimulating growth, attracting investment, and generating employment opportunities for Kwara's vibrant small business community.
