The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar Maiha, has called on Ecogold Company, a producer of animal fattening products, to urgently establish a manufacturing plant in Nigeria.
The minister emphasized that a local factory would significantly boost domestic animal feed production and reduce Nigeria's reliance on imported feeds, saving the country millions of dollars.
Minister Maiha made the appeal during a meeting in Abuja with Ecogold's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Martins Nwaege, and his team. He highlighted the proposed factory's critical role in transforming Nigeria's livestock sector.

The Minister also outlined the Ministry's comprehensive plans to modernize the industry, which include building modern abattoirs, cultivating large-scale pastures, establishing feedlots for animal fattening, developing ranches, and expanding animal health services across the nation.
Maiha assured Ecogold of the Ministry's full support and partnership, encouraging the company to engage with stakeholders to promote its products nationwide. "We want to partner with you and ensure the product reaches every part of Nigeria," he stated.
In response, Ecogold CEO, Mr. Martins Nwaege, committed to making the animal feed factory operational in Nigeria within two years. He added that Nigeria would serve as the pilot country for the initiative before the company expands its operations to other African nations.
Nwaege also noted that the project would create significant employment opportunities for women and youths.
He further confirmed that Ecogold's product has been certified by the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), ensuring its quality and effectiveness.
