Prominent Cleric Warns President Buhari Against USA Trip
Gabriel Osu, director of social communications, catholic archdiocese of Lagos, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against his state visit to USA on July 20, 2015.
He urged the president against canceling the law on same-sex marriage.
Nigerian leader will visit his American counterpart with a 32-man delegation.
The prominent cleric told journalists that Buhari should read between the lines to be sure that there was no hidden agenda for him.
He said: “President Buhari is going to America at the instance of President Obama’s invitation, and I know that Americans have been promising to help Nigeria with all kinds of aids.
“All we advise President Buhari is to watch out before he puts his hand on any paper, he should look at it very well in the light of gay marriage in America, gay sanctions, lesbianism being sanctioned.
“He should be more than careful to read between the lines so that they do not in any way use it as a price on something we must respond to because they have tried it some years back.
“I am sure they may not call it gay marriage but population check. “However, they say that even in Freetown nothing is free.”
