The Katsina State government has injected over N105 billion into agriculture and water resources, reinforcing its commitment to food security, economic growth, and improved livelihoods.
Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal, speaking at the fourth monthly press briefing, highlighted key investments, including N36 billion for fertilisers, tractors, and mechanised tools to enhance farming productivity.
The government also allocated N790 million to upgrade produce storage and revive the Songhai Farm Centre for year-round farming.
To boost livestock production, N5.7 billion was invested in the Goat Rearing Initiative, distributing 32,490 goats across 361 wards, while N796 million supported livestock vaccination and artificial insemination.

Irrigation and dry-season farming received N11.5 billion for solar-powered pumps, powered tillers, and dredging equipment.
Meanwhile, N21 billion was allocated to water infrastructure, including N14.4 billion for urban projects, N2.3 billion for rural boreholes, and N10.2 billion for small-town water supply, benefiting over 182,000 people.
Deputy Governor Lawal reaffirmed the administration's dedication to agricultural expansion and water security, essential for job creation and economic resilience in Katsina State.
