The Deputy Governor (Corporate Services) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Ms. Emem Usoro, has called for greater financial inclusion of women and other underserved groups to unlock economic opportunities and drive sustainable growth.
Speaking at Citibank's inaugural Women in Central Banking event in London, in celebration of International Women's Day, Usoro emphasized the CBN's commitment to implementing data-driven policies that enhance access to finance, promote investment, and foster a more inclusive economy.

Addressing a distinguished panel of female deputy governors from central banks across Kenya, Turkey, Israel, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, and the UK, Usoro reaffirmed that under the leadership of Governor Olayemi Cardoso, the CBN is prioritizing financial inclusion as a catalyst for entrepreneurship, market expansion, and economic resilience.
"With macroeconomic stabilization in progress, we are now focusing on broader financial sector reforms, particularly financial inclusion," she stated. "Whether it's women-led businesses seeking capital, professionals securing their financial future, or rural communities gaining banking access for the first time, inclusion is key to driving sustainable development."
