Oyo State has emerged as a thriving ground for youth-driven enterprises and innovation, according to the state's Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade.
Speaking at the 19th Synod of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Agodi Diocese, Oyelade highlighted the Makinde-led administration's commitment to empowering young people through job creation, entrepreneurship, and skill development.
He revealed that over 23,000 youths have secured employment across sectors, with 5,020 trained in agribusiness 3,000 directly by the state and 2,020 through strategic partners. Additionally, 19,500 teachers have been recruited into public schools.

"No administration in Oyo, past or present, has achieved this level of youth engagement, even during times of economic difficulty," he noted.
Oyelade also challenged the idea that prayer alone guarantees success, urging youths to combine faith with diligence.
He encouraged them to take advantage of the enabling environment created for startups, agribusiness, and skill-based ventures.
Meanwhile, Bishop Rt. Rev. Oluwole Onaleke commended Governor Makinde's performance in youth empowerment, infrastructure, and economic development, calling for more efforts to curb moral decay and support youth excellence.
