Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called for a bold rethink of Africa's higher education system to prioritize practical, entrepreneurial learning.
Speaking at the launch of the Centre for African Social and Economic Transformation (CASET) in Bristol, UK, he emphasized the need for education that prepares young Africans for real-world impact.
Taking to his official X handle, the Lagos governor reaffirmed his commitment to CASET's mission, stating that "learning must be more entrepreneurial, practical, and connected to the real world."
Sanwo-Olu, who now serves as CASET Patron, said Lagos provides a clear example of what's possible when young people are empowered. "From tech to the arts to enterprise, we've witnessed how access to the right tools creates opportunities," he said.

He also cited transformative Lagos projects—including the expanding metro rail, Africa's largest rice mill, a modern seaport, and an integrated transport system—as results of strategic public-private partnerships.
"CASET offers a powerful platform to scale these successes across the continent," he added. "Together with universities, businesses, and global partners, we can shape an Africa defined not by challenges, but by innovation and ambition."
