The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has held an interactive meeting with women-focused NGOs to address safety concerns in homes and public spaces—key areas where many small businesses and informal trade activities take place.
Held at the Women Development Centre in Agege, the event was themed "Homes and Public Places Safety: An Essential Way of Life." It brought together NGOs, health professionals, advocacy groups, and community leaders to explore practical solutions for improving safety—especially for women, children, and those running small businesses in markets, schools, and transit areas.
Honourable Commissioner Mrs. Cecilia Bolaji Dada emphasized that personal and public safety is vital for economic stability and community well-being. For many women entrepreneurs, secure environments are essential for running successful ventures.

The session concluded with a fire safety drill led by the Lagos State Fire Service, demonstrating practical tips that small business operators and NGOs can implement to improve safety standards in their communities.
