The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), has launched a three-week nationwide training to boost digital skills among teachers.
The programme, which began virtually on September 3, 2025, engaged 3,600 teachers before moving to a two-day physical session in Abuja for selected participants drawn from all 36 states and the FCT.
Trainees explored six key competence areas under the National Digital Literacy Framework (NDLF), including digital device operation, data literacy, communication, content creation, online safety, and problem solving.

Supported by the Federal Ministry of Education, the initiative aims to equip teachers with modern tools and innovative teaching methods to enhance classroom delivery and prepare students for the digital economy. Standout participants will be groomed as Master Trainers to cascade the knowledge to other teachers nationwide.
Anchored on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda and NITDA's Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan (SRAP 2.0), the effort targets achieving 70% digital literacy across Nigeria by 2027.
