The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Nigeria's digital economy through collaboration with the media and key stakeholders.
Speaking at the S24 Unconference in Abuja, themed "When Media Becomes a Force for Development," the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, represented by the Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations, Hajiya Hadiza Umar (FNIPR), emphasised the critical role of the media in driving national development.
Inuwa noted that NITDA remains focused on building a digital economy where innovation thrives, technology is inclusive, and Nigeria's data remains sovereign. He reiterated the agency's targets of achieving 70 per cent digital literacy by 2027 and 95 per cent by 2030, in line with President Bola Tinubu's vision of using technology to power economic growth, industrialisation, and diversification.

Describing the media as the "ultimate digital platform," he said the convergence of digital innovation and modern media has the potential to accelerate socio-economic growth, improve governance, and foster national unity.
He urged content creators and media professionals to align their work with Nigeria's digital transformation goals, ensuring that "every story told and every content created contributes to the country's digital prosperity."
The event provided a platform for conversation and collaboration among stakeholders, with NITDA reaffirming its commitment to promoting digital literacy, innovation, and inclusive growth to strengthen Nigeria's digital future.
