Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasized Nigeria's dedication to strengthening its relationship with Zambia, particularly in ways that can foster mutual economic growth, trade partnerships, and shared prosperity for small businesses in both countries.
Speaking on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Shettima received Dr. Samuel Miambo, Special Envoy of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema.
The envoy conveyed a personal message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signaling a renewed interest in bilateral cooperation.
Shettima described the bond between Nigeria and Zambia as a "fraternal brotherhood" rooted in shared values of civil liberty, democratic governance, and mutual support, especially during Africa's fight against apartheid.

He noted that Zambia's political stability and Nigeria's economic influence offer both nations a strategic opportunity to collaborate on trade, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
"With President Tinubu's pro-business reforms and Zambia's stable democratic culture, we can build strong cross-border partnerships that empower MSMEs, create jobs, and drive inclusive growth," Shettima said.
The visit underscores growing interest in African-led economic collaboration, with small and medium-sized enterprises expected to benefit through expanded markets, technology exchange, and access to investment opportunities.
