The European Union (EU) has committed €1.5 million in emergency funding to support victims of the ongoing conflict in Benue State and address nutrition crises in Nigeria's North-West and North-East regions. The intervention targets displaced populations, vulnerable children, and communities facing acute food insecurity.
This funding will support humanitarian partners in delivering life-saving nutrition, healthcare, water, and protection services, particularly for children under five, pregnant women, and displaced families.
Reacting to the EU's announcement, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, a leading advocate for child protection and humanitarian response, called for urgent collective action to save vulnerable children from worsening conditions. He praised the EU for its consistent and impactful support, especially in regions most affected by conflict and poverty.

The EU's support reinforces ongoing efforts by the Nigerian government and humanitarian agencies to scale up emergency nutrition services, conflict response, and resilience-building across affected regions.
