The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has urged Nigerians to adopt proper use of alternative payment channels, safeguard their naira notes, and stay vigilant against fraud.
Speaking at the bank's maiden Financial Services Fair in Lagos, Acting Director of Corporate Communications, Hakama Sidi-Alli, said the theme, "Driving Alternative Payment Channels as Tools for Financial Inclusion, Growth and Accelerated Economic Development", aligns with efforts to support SMEs, promote price stability, and expand economic activities.
Sidi-Alli assured that the apex bank will maintain a steady supply of clean currency, urging the public to treat the naira with respect by avoiding hoarding, mutilation, or counterfeiting.

Participants also learned about CBN initiatives to boost loan access, homeownership, and trust in the financial system. Mr. Ayodeji Ojo from the Other Financial Institutions Supervision Department noted that secure digital services are central to expanding financial access nationwide.
From the Consumer Protection/Financial Inclusion Department, Mr. Olufemi Fakeye highlighted seven key consumer rights and shared fraud prevention tips, including safeguarding PINs, setting account limits, avoiding suspicious calls or texts, and promptly reporting irregularities.
The fair featured five presentations aimed at equipping Nigerians with the knowledge to leverage CBN policies for personal and business growth.
