The Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has rolled out a nationwide intervention to strengthen the non-oil export sector, distributing 23,239 hybrid seedlings and farm inputs to 3,047 farmers.
The initiative, under its Corporate Social Investment programme, targets crops such as cocoa, sesame, and oil palm to raise the quality and volume of export commodities.
Unveiling the 2025 half-year Non-Oil Export Performance Report, NEPC Executive Director, Nonye Ayeni, said the effort is already expanding production capacity for global markets.

Beyond agriculture, over 150 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have also benefited from the Export Mentorship Programme, which paired 60 new exporters with five top-performing exporters for practical training on documentation and procedures. According to Ayeni, the programme has boosted exporters' confidence and readiness for international trade.
The council also hosted sensitisation workshops in Lagos and Kano, where more than 100 SMEs learned about global standards and new market opportunities along commodity value chains.
Ayeni reaffirmed NEPC's commitment to diversifying Nigeria's economy through non-oil exports, supporting job creation, poverty reduction, and sustainable growth.
