Paul Merson has made a bold statement that he believes Theo is only asking to play up front because it's the easier route to a starting place at Arsenal, saying "It's easier to compete with Olivier Giroud than it is with Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain." Adding that in his opinion Walcott doesn't want to fight for his place out wide, also saying that Kane, Sturridge and Rooney are all ahead of him for a place up front for the Euros. Now I'd agree with Kane, Sturridge and Rooney being ahead of Theo up front for England but I genuinely believe that he just wants to be a striker, he's been saying it for a very long time and right now he's playing better up top than anyone else we've got, so why not play him there?
