Need to know | Donald Trump became the first U.S. president convicted of a crime after he was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records. His sentencing is scheduled for July 11. |
| | | Voter impact: While the verdict is likely to fire up Trump’s base, polling has offered mixed results. In a survey released yesterday, 67% of U.S. voters said a conviction wouldn’t make a difference for them. [The Hill] |
| | Campaign fuel: Trump returns to the campaign trail today with a press conference at Trump Tower. His spokesman said he feels “defiant” after the verdict and ready to “get out there and start fighting again.” [AP] |

3 Questions... | about Young Woman and the Sea | Young Woman and the Sea, the biographical film about swimming pioneer Gertrude Ederle, is in theaters. I asked entertainment reporter Laura Clark, who saw the movie, to break it down. |
| | Give me the backstory: Who was the real Gertrude Ederle? |
| So, this is cool: Trudy was a record-breaking swimmer in the 1920s, and the film is about how she became the first woman to swim across the English Channel. |
| |
| | The movie has a ton of swimming scenes. What surprised you about them? |
| I talked to Daisy Ridley, who plays Trudy, and was surprised to learn that she spent months learning how to swim in open water for the role. It’s not an indoor tank or green screen! |
| |
| | Yes! I thought the movie was really inspiring. It reminded me not only of the barriers women have faced in sports, but also of what you can do when you believe in yourself. |
