3 Questions... | about a new Trump-Harris poll | Anthony asked Andrew Romano, who's covering the election for Yahoo News, to break down a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll on how voters would feel if Kamala Harris ran for president. It was conducted over the weekend, mostly before President Biden dropped out. | |
| | When it comes to Democratic support for Kamala Harris, what did the survey find? |
|
| So, our poll found that Democratic support for Harris as Biden's replacement surged to 59%, up from 38% three weeks ago. Even more (68%) said they'd back Harris over "someone else" if Biden endorsed her. |
| |
| | What did the survey find about a possible Harris matchup against Trump? |
|
| Harris and Trump are tied at 46% each. Compared to Biden, our poll showed that she'd perform better among 18-29 year olds, independents and Black Americans. |
| |
| | Is Harris the strongest candidate to square off against Trump? |
|
| Yes, at least according to our poll. It found that Trump (46%) would defeat lower-profile Democrats including California Gov. Gavin Newsom (40%) and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (41%) if we all voted today. |
