The Federal Government is set to reduce the number of agencies operating at Nigerian seaports to seven as part of its efforts to streamline port operations and improve the ease of doing business.
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, revealed this during an interactive session with media editors in Lagos.
Oyetola also announced a 48-month timeline for the modernization of the Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports, deepening their drafts to 16 and 17 meters, respectively, to accommodate larger vessels and curb revenue losses to neighboring countries. The initiative is expected to create over 20,000 jobs.
