The Kogi State Government has unveiled the Ododo Youth Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Programme (OYESA) to equip 1,000 youths with technical expertise.
Spearheaded by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the initiative is implemented through the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Institute for Vocational and Advanced Technology (NKFI).
Rector of NKFI, William Charles Oluwatoyin, highlighted that the programme aligns with the governor's vision of creating a skilled workforce to drive economic growth.
The first batch of participants from the state's 21 local governments is currently undergoing training in nine specialized fields, including automotive mechatronics, welding and fabrication, and software development.
Some trainees have already demonstrated their capabilities by executing state projects at lower costs than external contractors.

Oluwatoyin emphasized that beyond training, graduates are integrated into industrial workplaces, with some securing jobs at major firms like Dangote Group and Grand Cereal Nigeria Limited.
The programme also includes innovative projects in solar-powered systems and surveillance technology to support security agencies.
Graduates will receive high-quality starter packs to establish their careers. Oluwatoyin commended Governor Ododo's support, assuring that OYESA will position Kogi as a hub for vocational excellence.
