The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has declared a billboard in Surulere illegal after it collapsed twice, causing injuries and property damage.
In an official statement, LASAA announced sanctions against the billboard owner, Radius Resources Limited, for violating regulations. The agency's Managing Director, Fatiu Akiolu, reaffirmed its commitment to billboard safety, urging all advertisers and security formations to comply with state laws.
"For public information, the billboard in question is not registered with LASAA; therefore, it is illegal," the agency stated.

LASAA highlighted ongoing challenges in regulating advertising structures within military and police formations, stressing the need for cooperation to prevent unsafe installations.
Following the billboard collapse, Radius Resources Limited was suspended on October 24, 2024, for unethical practices, and a stop-work order was issued. LASAA also formally notified the Nigerian Army, urging it to halt all construction at the site for reassessment.
Akiolu emphasized public safety, stating, "The safety of our residents is our top priority, and we take incidents like this very seriously." LASAA encouraged residents to report unsafe billboards, promising swift action to maintain order and safety in Lagos' advertising sector.
