The National Productivity Centre (NPC) has urged businesses and government agencies in Nigeria to adopt Kaizen, a globally recognized strategy for improving productivity and efficiency.
Speaking at the 2nd National Kaizen Conference in Abuja, the Director-General of NPC, Dr Baffa Dan'Agundi, said Kaizen would help businesses streamline operations, cut waste, and improve overall performance.
"With increasing competition in global markets, Nigerian businesses must enhance their managerial and operational practices to remain competitive," Dan'Agundi stated.
The event, organized in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), brought together business leaders, government officials, and industry experts to discuss ways to improve productivity across sectors.

Dan'Agundi explained that Kaizen, which has been successfully used by top businesses worldwide, enables companies to increase revenue and expand operations without additional capital investment, ultimately leading to job creation and economic growth.
He commended JICA for its role in promoting Kaizen in Nigeria and called on both public and private sector players to integrate continuous improvement strategies into their operations.
JICA Nigeria's Chief Representative, Susumu Yuzurio, highlighted the impact of Kaizen on business growth, stating that its adoption in Nigeria could lead to higher efficiency, reduced operational costs, and improved product quality.
"Kaizen, which means 'change for the better,' is not just a concept but a proven business strategy that has transformed industries globally. Nigerian businesses that embrace it will be better positioned for long-term sustainability and competitiveness," Yuzurio said.
Business leaders at the conference emphasized the need for better policy support, training, and collaboration to ensure wider adoption of Kaizen across various industries.
