Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to work more closely together to improve Nigeria's business environment, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Speaking at the closing session of the PEBEC Retreat in Abuja, Shettima highlighted the importance of teamwork among public institutions to remove bottlenecks and make it easier for entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses.
He stressed that the Tinubu administration is fully committed to its "Renewed Hope" agenda, which includes making Nigeria a more attractive place for investment by improving how government services are delivered.
"The business of government is too complex to be handled in isolation," Shettima said. "We must break down silos, simplify processes, and focus on real results that help our citizens and businesses."

He called on agencies to stop working separately and instead focus on joint planning, data sharing, and building trust through transparency and innovation.
According to him, public institutions must shift from talking about reforms to actually implementing them — so that businesses, especially SMEs, can benefit from faster services, less red tape, and better support.
"Our people and investors are watching. The time for delays is over. We must move from policy to performance," he said.
Shettima also emphasized the need for agencies to stop passing responsibility and instead take ownership of reforms that improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
