To prepare Nigerian products for the continental stage, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) has equipped entrepreneurs in Lagos with top-tier skills in packaging and branding.
The training, held in Lagos, targets Nano, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (NMSMEs) and is part of SMEDAN's drive to position local businesses for success under the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which opens access to over 1.3 billion consumers.
SMEDAN DG Charles Odii, represented by Tunde Oloyede, said the program focuses on turning Nigerian-made goods into globally competitive brands through modern techniques in packaging, brand identity, and market positioning.

Participants from sectors like agribusiness, food, cosmetics, textiles, and more underwent intensive sessions, including live audits and design labs. They also explored sustainable packaging, compliance with export standards, and e-commerce strategies.
Odii noted that the initiative directly tackles poor presentation and weak brand visibility—issues that often hinder Nigerian products in international markets.
The training will soon be replicated in northern Nigeria to ensure nationwide reach and inclusivity.
