Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to reviving moribund industries and fostering economic growth.
Speaking while receiving members of the Sokoto State Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (SOCCIMA) on a Sallah homage, Governor Aliyu lamented the collapse of key industries that once thrived in the state, worsening unemployment.
He recalled that from the 1980s to the late 1990s, Sokoto had functional industries such as ceramics, tannery, furniture, and fertilizer blending plants, which contributed significantly to revenue and job creation.
"We are working through our ease of doing business policy to create an enabling environment for economic growth," he stated, adding that the government is ready to partner with investors to revive these industries.

Aliyu highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including quality roads and efforts to complete the Sokoto Independent Power Plant (IPP), initiated by the Wamakko administration. The project, once completed, is expected to enhance electricity supply and stimulate business activities.
He urged the chamber of commerce to promote Sokoto's agriculture, mining, trade, and commerce potential to attract investors.
The President of SOCCIMA, Alhaji Muazu Malami Ma'aji, commended the governor for massive transformation efforts, particularly in urban renewal, which he said had enhanced Sokoto's appeal to investors.
