Lagos is set to host Africa's first global AI summit for children on June 14, 2025, at the Landmark Event Centre—an ambitious event designed to equip young Nigerians aged 6–16 with essential Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills, planting the seeds for future SME leadership.
Themed around early exposure to emerging technologies, the summit will feature hands-on workshops, immersive learning activities, and interactive exhibitions. The goal is to empower children not just to consume technology but to become future innovators and entrepreneurs in Nigeria's evolving SME landscape.
Parents and educators will also benefit from the summit through dedicated sessions on parenting in a tech-driven world, cyber safety, curriculum development, and business-relevant digital tools—ensuring holistic support for raising a generation ready to thrive in AI-driven economies.
A major highlight of the event will be the launch of "Zina and the Thinking Machines," a children's storybook that introduces AI concepts through a fun and relatable African narrative. The book aims to ignite curiosity and technological confidence in children aged 6–12 while celebrating local identity and innovation.

The initiative, led by Digital Equity Africa, is part of a wider strategy to build digital equity across regions. Following Lagos, similar events are planned in Abuja, Kano, and Enugu. Additionally, an AI Learning Community targeting 100,000 children nationwide will provide ongoing mentorship, learning resources, and global networking opportunities to extend impact beyond the summit.
"This is more than an event—it's a national movement to prepare our children for leadership in technology, entrepreneurship, and the future of work," said Justina Nnam Oha, the convener.
The Lagos AI summit invites sponsors, policymakers, and private sector leaders to invest in the next generation of SME trailblazers—starting with children.
