Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man and founder of the Dangote Group, has earned global recognition as the only Nigerian named in the inaugural 2025 TIME100 Philanthropy list.
Published Tuesday by TIME Magazine, the list celebrates 100 influential leaders redefining global giving. Dangote was spotlighted for his extensive impact through the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF), which invests over $35 million annually in humanitarian programmes across Africa.
ADF's efforts span health, education, and economic empowerment, including a $100 million initiative to tackle severe childhood malnutrition and key partnerships that helped eradicate polio in Africa.
In education, Dangote has donated $10 million to the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology and built a N1.2 billion hostel at Ahmadu Bello University—Nigeria's largest individual university donation.

"My mother instilled in me the ethos of giving back," Dangote said. "I want to be remembered not just as Africa's richest, but as its biggest philanthropist."
His vision is clear: create a legacy of leadership and upliftment for the next generation of Africans.
