A new SME Business Clinic has been launched across Nigeria to equip small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with expert guidance, practical tools, and access to financing. The initiative, which began in Lagos and Abuja, is set to reach major cities nationwide under the theme 'Building a Resilient, Profitable and Future-Ready Business in Nigeria'.
The programme offers personalised advisory sessions for SMEs—ranging from nano-enterprises to growth-stage businesses—covering crucial areas such as regulatory compliance, tax management, legal structuring, and business expansion strategies.
Over 50 business experts, including financial advisers, legal professionals, and tax consultants, are providing one-on-one support to help entrepreneurs navigate real-world challenges.
A senior banking executive involved in the initiative noted that the project aims to meet SMEs' most urgent needs: access to finance, access to markets, and access to practical business advice. "Our success is tied to the success of the businesses we support," he said, adding that the clinic goes beyond traditional seminars by focusing on tailored, problem-solving sessions for each participating business.
The initiative also addresses long-standing issues that affect SME profitability, such as inefficient business structures and lack of reliable financial planning. Organisers stressed the importance of preparing SMEs for sustainable growth and reducing the risks of poor financial decisions.

A key advocate of the programme stated that SMEs contribute over 51% to Nigeria's GDP, and their growth potential is enormous—if they are given the right support. The clinic, she said, is a shift from mere talk to meaningful action.
In addition to business advice, the programme includes a flexible financing model designed to support businesses at different stages of development—even those that don't yet meet traditional lending requirements.
Separately, it was also announced that a $280 million deal has been secured to boost SME financing in Nigeria, providing further backing to support entrepreneurs across the country.
