The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) announced that it created over 90,000 new jobs in the first quarter of 2025 through strategic empowerment programmes and partnerships.
According to a statement released by the agency, more than 116,000 entrepreneurs received critical support such as training, access to funding, markets, and work tools.
The Director-General of SMEDAN, Charles Odii, highlighted that collaborations with the private sector—such as Google and Wema Bank—and lawmakers significantly boosted the agency's impact.
Thousands of small businesses also benefited from formal registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), enhancing their ability to access finance and compete in broader markets.
