The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, has been honoured with the "Distinguished Economic Leader Award" by the Corporate Council on Africa in recognition of his decade of transformative leadership that has positively impacted the lives of over 565 million people across the African continent.
The award was presented by Jean Raymond Boulle, Deputy Chairman of the Council, during the opening ceremony of the prestigious U.S.-Africa Business Summit, which convened over 2,000 delegates, including seven Heads of State, multiple Prime Ministers, high-ranking diplomats, and business leaders from across the globe.
Boulle praised Adesina's visionary leadership, which he said had elevated the African Development Bank into a globally respected institution and a partner of choice in driving Africa's economic transformation.

"We celebrate Dr. Akinwumi Adesina for advancing the AfDB through the High 5 development priorities — Feed Africa, Light up Africa, Industrialise Africa, Integrate Africa, and Improve the Quality of Life for the People of Africa," he said.
The Council noted that under Adesina's leadership, the bank's High 5 strategy has delivered measurable results that align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, underscoring Africa's growing role in the global development agenda.
The award marks a significant international endorsement of Dr. Adesina's tenure at the helm of the AfDB, which began in 2015 and has since been characterised by bold reforms, increased development financing, and a focus on sustainable growth across the continent.
