The Malaysian Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Ewon Benedick, has made a strong appeal to private sector players to actively support the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by offering innovative and sustainable financing solutions. This call aligns with the government's long-term vision of strengthening MSMEs as the driving force of Malaysia's economic engine.
Speaking at the launch of the RM50 million Revenue-Based Financing Programme by Dattel Asia Group during the OHSEM360 2025 event, Ewon praised the initiative as a powerful example of alternative financing that unlocks wider access to capital for entrepreneurs.
"The government is always open to collaborations that deliver real value and lasting impact on the MSME landscape," he said. "We need more private sector participation in building an ecosystem that supports sustainable business growth and national economic progress."
He noted that such efforts directly contribute to the National Entrepreneurship Policy 2030, which aims to broaden access to capital markets and enhance the global competitiveness of MSMEs.

Highlighting Dattel Asia Group's programme, Ewon said it demonstrates how financial innovation, when paired with technology, can drive meaningful change for small businesses. "It's a testament to how both government and private stakeholders must work together to ensure a vibrant, future-ready entrepreneurship environment," he added.
The minister also stressed the urgency for MSMEs to adapt to rapid technological changes, citing the rise of artificial intelligence, big data, and automation as key disruptors reshaping global business models.
"MSMEs can no longer afford to rely solely on traditional practices. To stay competitive, they must embrace and integrate modern technologies into their operations," Ewon advised.
He reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to welcoming more private-sector initiatives that bridge financing gaps and support MSMEs in scaling sustainably.
